Congratulations on the Arrival of your First-Born!

Some thoughts today as friends of ours welcome their first-born child into their family:

Yes, you can survive on 15 minutes of sleep every 24 hours...for 6 weeks in a row.
No, your nipples won’t fall off (although you may wish for that some days).
Yes, your milk will come in.
No, your boobs won’t always be that big.
Yes, we’ve all seen that colour poop.
No, you can’t spoil your baby.
Yes, someone somewhere will be judging every choice you make -- ignore them!
No, your baby won’t ALWAYS sleep in your bed.
Yes, you will be able to wean baby from the soother, bottle, nipple, etc some day.
No, you won’t use the washroom alone or in peace again for the foreseeable future.
Yes, you will need that extra change of clothes (that you left at home).
No, there isn’t a step-by-step instruction manual.
Yes, you will let your husband go back ‘down there’ ... it’ll just take a few weeks (or month).
No, googling every symptom your baby exhibits is not a good idea.
Yes, you'll be thankful for Lansinoh, witch hazel wipes, a nursing pillow, and frozen maxi pads.
No, no one can see your entire boob when nursing, so ignore the haters.
Yes, that perineum spray bottle thingy will be your best friend ... and yes, it should come with a holster so you can keep it handy on your hip at all times.
No, it’s okay to cry because you’re so happy, scared, tired, and in love, all at once.
Yes, randomly placed water bottles throughout your entire house IS a good idea.
No, there’s nothing good on tv for those late-night nursings.
Yes, asking for, and accepting help, is a good thing.
No, we didn’t notice the milk stains on your shirt, nor the fact your socks don’t match.
Yes, you’re a mom, and a damned good one too!
